The year American retailer and textile manufacturer Marshall Field built a loom capable of recreating the detailed craftsmanship of a hand-woven rug. From the moment the first Karastan came off the loom (2:02 p.m., April 8, 1928), the Karastan name became synonymous with elegant machine-made rugs that rivaled their handmade counterparts. Karastan is the pioneer in machine woven rugs and has taken the machine made rug to the level of the handmade rug, something that was previously unthinkable in terms of rugs. Introduction of techniques like the TeaWash process and the LustreWash process has enabled Karastan to achieve new heights in rug making. Made in the U.S.A..
